Bribery defenses
ORS > Criminal Code > Against the State > 162.035
(1) in any prosecution under 162.015 (bribe giving), it is a defense that the defendant offered, conferred or agreed to confer the pecuniary benefit as a result of extortion or coercion by the public servant
(2) It's not a defense to a prosecution under 162.015 (bribe giving) & 162.025 (bribe receiving) that the person sought to be influenced was not qualified to act in the desired way, whether because they hadn't assumed office, lacked jurisdiction or for any other reason.
