ORSGuide was developed as a tool for patrol officers who often require a quick reference to criminal and vehicle statutes and definitions while in the field. Traditional field handbooks are at times quite unwieldy - especially in time critical or less than ideal situations such as a traffic stop at night.

The objective of this guide is to give officers quick and easy access to the most relevant sections of the most relevant statutes. In many instances the language of the statute has been simplified to make it easier to read and understand in the field

As such, ORSGuide is not intended as a replacement to the ORS.

It's always a good idea to lookup at the actual statute text to verify your understanding. A link to the actual statute has been provided in each statute listed in this guide for your convenience.
