Speed
Organizing a speed racing event
(1) except as provided in paragraph (3), it's a violation of this statute for anyone to in any manner organize a speed racing event
(3) anyone who organizes a speed racing event is not in violation of this section if the person has a permit from the road authority for the highway on which the event takes place.
Speed racing on highway
(1) on a highway the person drives a vehicle or participates in any manner in any of the following where a vehicle is involved:
(a) speed competition or contest
(b) acceleration contest
(c) test of physical endurance
(d) exhibition of speed or acceleration
(e) making a speed record
Speeds that are evidence of basic rule violation
(1) any speed in excess of a designated speed posted by authority granted under 810.180 (Designation of maximum speeds) is sufficient evidence of violation of 811.100 (violation of basic speed rule)
(2) if no designated speed is posted by authority granted under 810.180 (Designation of maximum speeds), any speed in excess of one of the following speeds is sufficient evidence of violation of the basic speed rule:
(b) twenty (20) miles per hour in a business district.
(c) twenty-five (25) miles per hour in any public park.
(d) twenty-five (25) miles per hour on a highway in a residence district if:
(A) the residence district is not located within a city AND
(e) fifty-five (55) miles per hour in locations not otherwise described in this section
Violation of speed limit
(1)(a) drives on interstate highway (except for portions described in specific highways below) faster than 65mph or a speed greater than the posted speed
Special Vehicles
(b) drives more than 55mph on highway or a speed more than the posted speed:
(A) motor truck with a GVWR more than 10,000lbs or a truck tractor with a GVWR rating more than 8,000lbs
(B) school bus
(E) bus operated for transporting children to & from church or an activity or function authorized by a church
No Posted Speed Limits
(d) drives a vehicle on a highway at a speed more than the posted speed or, if no designated speed posted:
(C) 25 mph - public park, ocean shores
(E) 65 mph - interstate highway
(F) 55 mph - otherwise
School Zones
(A) a segment of highway adjacent to school grounds marked by school zone signs (per 801.462(1)(a)) AND
(i) school zone has a flashing light used as traffic control device operating under 810.243 (Operation of flashing light indicating children in school zone) OR
(ii) if no flashing light used as a traffic control device, suspect drives in school zone between 7am & 5pm on a school day
(ii) children are present

(1) drives a vehicle on a highway at a speed more than reasonable & prudent for conditions including:
(a) traffic
(b) surface & width highway
(c) hazard at intersections
(d) weather
(e) visibility
(f) other conditions then existing
(A) speed more than the posted designated speed
(B) speed greater than:
(iii) 25 mph - public park
(v) 55 mph - Otherwise
