Schedule I
Drugs with no currently accepted medical use & a high potential for abuse.
Examples: heroin, LSD, Marijuana (cannabis, THC), MDMA (ecstasy, 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine), methaqualone, & Mescaline (Peyote), GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid), Psilocybin, Synthetic marijuana and analogs (Spice, K2), Methaqualone (Quaalude), Khat (Cathinone)
Bath Salts (3,4-methylenedioxypyrovalerone or MDPV)
Schedule II
High potential for abuse, with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence. Also considered dangerous.
Examples: Vicodin, cocaine, methamphetamine, methadone, hydromorphone (Dilaudid), meperidine (Demerol), oxycodone, fentanyl, Dexedrine, Adderall, & Ritalin
Schedule III
Moderate to low potential for physical & psychological dependence. Schedule III drugs abuse potential is less than Schedule I & Schedule II drugs but more than Schedule IV.
Examples: Tylenol with codeine, ketamine, anabolic steroids, testosterone
Schedule IV
Low potential for abuse & low risk of dependence.
Examples: Xanax, Soma, Darvon, Darvocet, Valium, Ativan, Talwin, Ambien, Tramadol
Schedule V
Lower potential for abuse than Schedule IV & generally used for antidiarrheal, antitussive, & analgesic purposes.
Examples: Robitussin AC), Lomotil, Motofen, Lyrica, Parepectolin
