Headlights - defined
ORS > Vehicle Code > Equipment - Lighting > 816.050
(1) On vehicles requiring two (2) or more lights, lights must be equally distributed on each side of vehicle's front
(2) lights must emit a continuous light
(a) Motorcycles/mopeds high beam can modulate between a higher & lower brightness at 200-280 pulses/min
(3) must show a white light
(4) must shine forward
(7) must be aimed to comply with DOT rules. If single beam & is not supplemented by auxiliary lights, must be aimed so on an unloaded vehicle none of the high intensity part of light projects more than 5in below center of lamp at 25ft ahead, or more than 42in above the level on which vehicle stands at 75ft ahead
(8) intensity of single beam headlights must be sufficient to reveal people & vehicles on a street/highway 200ft or more ahead of vehicle
(11) single beam lights not supplemented by auxiliary lights are allowed instead of multi beam lights only if they comply with (7) & (8) above
